I have been a Health & Safety Professional for over 20 years and have worked in a number of industry sectors including Recruitment, Public Sector, Highways, The Charity Sector, Construction & Student Accommodation.
For 6 years I travelled the UK supporting operational teams managing Student residencies and worked alongside many of the UK’s Universities, delivering high levels of Customer Service & Experience. I thrive on being part of a proactive, passionate and driven team as these are some of my own attributes which I bring to the table. I am approachable and fair and always ready to help find a solution where a safe approach is required but time, resource and budget are also key priorities.
Effective Health & Safety Management isn’t just about enforcement and Compliance. Engaging with all stakeholders, at all levels and fostering a collaborative approach is key to success. I enjoy working alongside teams of all disciplines, helping them integrate safe working practices into their everyday roles and responsibilities. When done well, Safety becomes a seamless part of everyone’s working life, not just that of the Safety Advisor or Consultant.
Away from work, I have a teenage family, enjoy walking the dogs and spending time in the garden. We have a 100 year old property to maintain and actively monitor our carbon footprint having installed air source heat pump heating, solar panels and wood burning stoves as well as managing a large vegetable garden and chickens. I play in and manage a local live music band and we enjoy meeting up once a week for rehearsals and touring the local live music scene, although 2020 was a challenging year on all fronts.
Recent Key Experience:
For the last 9 years I have worked as an HS&E Advisor for 3 National and Regional Construction Principal Contractors. As a key member of the Senior Management Team, I advised project teams on achieving H&S Compliance from pre-construction through to post project completion. As well as periodic Site Inspections, I managed Subcontractor Approvals and PQQ’s, played an active role on Tender Submissions and delivered in-house training on a range of Safety Disciplines.
Most recently, I have secured ISO 9001, 18001 and 45001 accreditation for a regional contractor and guided them through the COVID Pandemic, successfully maintaining a number of large construction projects and head office operations in line with Government guidelines.
